Kaha Sciences rat telemeters provide the ideal solution for research scientists looking to record high quality wireless telemetry signals.

Options available to measure and transmit high-fidelity physiological signals such as:

  • Pressure,
  • Biopotential (i.e., ECG, EMG, EEG),
  • Sympathetic nerve activity (SNA),
  • and tissue oxygen

Benefits of Kaha Rat Telemeters

  • Powered by the SmartPad using patented wireless inductive technology, allowing for high frequency sampling (2 kHz when the cage is on the SmartPad) and improved temporal resolution
  • Supports unique signal acquisition including tissue oxygen and SNA
  • Pressure sensors incorporate Millar Mikro-TipTM catheter technology for unparalleled signal quality in a telemetry system
  • Data transmission range up to 5 meters with battery backup and in vivo recharging allows for experimental scenarios where a greater range of movement is required e.g. water maze behavioural studies
  • Cohousing feature enables two rats in the same cage or single rat (>350g) implanted with two telemeters.
  • All implants provide improved animal welfare by allowing the subject to move freely within the cage, a cohousing option to reduced stress of single housing, and being fully software controlled to reduce handling/impact of stress.

(COMING SOON) TR58AB Optogenetics Biopotential Telemeter (blue)

The TR58AB Kaha Sciences Rat Optogenetics Biopotential telemeter is suitable for use in rats >175 g.  The TR58AB combines optogenetics stimulation with recording of a single biopotential signal (e.g. ECG, EEG or EMG) in a single implant.  The telemeter is reusable and has a 35 cm fibre optic allowing for direct placement of the stimulating blue light (460nm) at target cells and 25 cm biopotential leads.  The telemeter is fully implantable and encased in a durable, biocompatible hard-shell (liquid crystal polymer), the telemeter weighs approximately 12 g.

The TR58AB is compatible for use only with a Kaha Sciences TR181 SmartPad and TR190 Configurator.  When used on the SmartPad, 24/7 wireless power and data transmission is available.  The battery backup in the TR58AB allows the telemeter to continue stimulating and transmitting data whilst on the SmartPad as well as providing approx. 3 hours (stimulation pattern dependant) of power if the animal is away from the SmartPad recharging field.  For laboratories with existing TR181 and TR190 hardware, the firmware will need to be upgraded.

The TR58AB is not yet available to the market, but please contact us if you would like to pre-register your interest.
